Let’s try something a little different this time. This award-winning video by Draxtor Despres highlights research and reflections on what it means to inhabit an avatar in Second Life, especially for ability-diverse residents.
While not all of it relates directly to roleplay, it does address several RP-related issues, such as the false virtual/real dichotomy, virtual worlds as actual places and topophilia, social pressure in virtual worlds, dealing with the inner child, body versus spirit, whether virtual worlds are games or multi-functional venues, emotional intelligence, and our avatars as part of who we are. A must-see!
